Ectopic pregnancy at our facility refers to the abnormal pregnancy process where the fertilized egg implants outside the uterine cavity, with the most common type being tubal pregnancy.
The most common cause of ectopic pregnancy is the blockage of the fallopian tube or surrounding inflammation, which prevents the fertilized egg from passing through. As a result, the egg remains in the fallopian tube, ultimately leading to a miscarriage.
Ectopic pregnancy does not present obvious symptoms before a miscarriage, which requires expectant mothers to be particularly cautious and undergo early examinations.
Can an ectopic pregnancy be detected with a test strip? An ectopic pregnancy cannot be detected using a test strip.
In the case of pregnancy, a pregnant woman's urine HCG will test positive, which can be detected using a test strip. However, in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, the urine HCG will also show a positive reaction. Therefore, a test strip cannot be used to detect an ectopic pregnancy.
Expectant mothers must go to the hospital for a check-up if they experience symptoms such as abdominal pain after testing positive for pregnancy, to ensure they are not unknowingly experiencing an ectopic pregnancy.
The most common cause of ectopic pregnancy is inflammation of the fallopian tubes or the surrounding areas. Severe inflammation of the fallopian tube mucosa can even lead to complete blockage of the lumen, resulting in infertility. Mild inflammation of the fallopian tubes can cause mucosal adhesions and damage to the cilia, which hinders the movement of the fertilized egg, causing it to implant and develop within the fallopian tube.
In addition to this, the causes of ectopic pregnancy also include the formation of a patent ductus arteriosus or fistula through surgery for tubal sterilization.
Obstructive or dysfunctional fallopian tubes, such as those with excessive length or poor myometrial development, can be caused by abnormalities in the secretion of estrogen and progesterone hormones, as well as psychological factors. These conditions can lead to spasms and abnormal movements of the fallopian tubes, affecting the transportation of fertilized eggs.
The fertilized egg migrates.
Artificial insemination or the use of ovulation-inducing drugs and so on.
Early Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy: The primary symptoms include three aspects. First, the absence of menstruation, except for ectopic pregnancies occurring in the interstitial part of the fallopian tubes with a duration of 6-8 weeks, some patients with ectopic pregnancy do not show obvious signs of amenorrhea, and some may only experience a delay of two or three days in their menstrual cycle.
The second issue is vaginal bleeding, which occurs in patients with an ectopic pregnancy after the embryo has died. Typically, these patients experience irregular vaginal bleeding, which is faint in color and minimal in amount; however, some patients may bleed more heavily, accompanied by fragments of the membrane.
The third issue is syncope and shock. Patients with ectopic pregnancy often experience abdominal pain, which intensifies when intraperitoneal bleeding occurs, leading to syncope and even shock.
The cost of an ectopic pregnancy surgery varies, including preoperative examinations, surgical expenses, and postoperative anti-inflammatory treatment costs. The fees vary slightly across regions and hospitals, but the cost of the surgery itself differs significantly. Generally, open surgery ranges from 4000 to 6000, while minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery costs between 8000 and 10000. It is advisable to opt for a minimally invasive approach, although it may be more expensive, as it results in a better recovery and smaller scarring.
